React Native, the cross-platform, mobile-first library that is an extension of the JavaScript-based React.js popular for web development, is the single most used mobile development technology today. By extension, React Native developers are in high demand.

If you need to recruit or contract React Native developers for a mobile development project, how much should you expect to pay as a salary or rates? And if you are a React Native developer, how much should you expect to earn?

These are questions with dynamic answers against the backdrop of significant salary inflation for software developers and other IT specialists, especially over the past couple of years. To help answer these questions, wherever you are considering recruiting React Native developers in the world, or are yourself based as a React Native developer, we’ve compiled salary data from around the world.

We present some of the best salary data sources from different international markets from the high salary economies of Western Europe and North America to the popular outsourcing destinations of Eastern Europe and India. We’ll add further context and comment to that data as a significant employer of software developers and other IT specialists from Eastern Europe, India and emerging IT outsourcing markets.

International React Native developer salaries overview

In the sections below we provide a more granular country-by-country breakdown of React Native developer salary ranges across the markets our research covers. We also add context, nuance and commentary alongside the raw data where we feel doing so adds value.

But for those who simply want a quick overview of the key stats, the average React Developer salaries across the markets we cover are:

  • Germany – €72,000 per annum (p.a.)
  • Switzerland – CHF100,000 (€104,660) p.a.
  • UK – £60,000 (€68,722) p.a.
  • Poland – PLN218,328 (€45,729) p.a.
  • Ukraine – $48,000 p.a.
  • India – ₹849,900 (€10,757) p.a.
  • The United States of America – $125,000 p.a.

International React Native developer rates

Especially when it comes to recruiting from nearshore and offshore IT outsourcing markets, many organisations take the strategic decision to work with an IT outsourcing provider like we are at K&C, rather than employ developers directly. There are a number of reasons for this such as:

  • Project cycles require a level of flexibility in resources which makes outsourcing a better solution than permanent employees.
  •  IT outsourcers are specialists in recruiting in nearshore and offshore markets.
  • Avoidance of the administrative headache of international payroll.
  • Avoidance of upfront recruitment costs.

If you plan to contract React Native developers through an IT services outsourcing partner, your costs will differ compared to permanent, salaried employees. Most IT outsourcers target a gross margin of around 30% on the salary costs of the IT specialists they place with partners. The overall cost of contracting developers rather than employing them permanently can often work out significantly cheaper for the strategic reasons outlined above and more.

However, on a month-to-month basis, you can expect React Native developer rates to cost you around 30% more than paying an employee salary as you will be covering the specialist’s salary and any associated taxes payable by the employer (your IT outsourcing partner), plus their margin.

React Native developer salary range in Germany

Germany is a relatively high salary economy and Europe’s biggest by GDP. After the UK, Germany employs more IT specialists than any other country in Europe. How does that translate into salary ranges typical for React Native developers?

We look at two data sources for React Native developer salary ranges in Germany. The first is the jobs portal de.talent.com. Based on salary data from 47 React Native roles, the median annual salary for developers is given as €72,000 or €6000 a month. The lower end of the range for more junior roles is given as €58,050 a year or €4838 a month and the range rises to €85,000 a year or €7083 a month for senior React Native developers.

However, data presented by Stepstone.de, another popular German job portal, presents a different picture. It puts the median React Native developer salary in Germany at just €42,300 a year and the range as falling between €36,500 and €52,800.

Based on our experience of the German market for software development talent, it is the annual salary figure of €72,000 given by de.talent.com that is more accurate. However, the Stepstone.de data more accurately shows the lower end of the salary scale for React Native developers in Germany with an annual salary of €58,050 at the bottom end high for junior roles.

React Native developer salary range in Switzerland

Switzerland is famously one of the highest salary economies in the world so it might be expected that the average React Native developer salary in the country is higher than in Germany. However, based on 12 salaries, the median figure given is relatively similar to that in Germany at CHF72,500 (€75,879) a year or CHF6324 a month. But the lower end of the range is given as just CHF71,000 (€74,309) a year or CHF5917 (€6193).

The proximity of the median salary figure and the lower end of the range suggests the small data sample size was heavily weighted towards salaries at the lower end of the range. The top end of the range is given as CHF110,250 (€115, 388) a year or CHF9188 (€9616).

The other data source we most often refer to for IT specialist salary ranges in Switzerland is the specialist jobs portal SwissDevJobs.ch. In this case, the portal doesn’t seperate out React Native developer salary data from that of React developers. The reality is the two JavaScript libraries are very closely related and it is rare to find a React Native developer who is not competent also competent in React.

React developer salary ranges are, as a result, a good proxy for React Native developer salaries. That’s especially the case in the context of React salary data usually being based on a much larger sample size of salaries. With that in mind and doubts over the accuracy of the ch.talent.com data due to its limited sample size of just 12 React Native developer salaries (and heavy weighting of the lower end of the range given) how does it compare to React developer salary range data for Switzerland?

ch.talent.com puts the median React developer salary in Switzerland at CHF117,500 (€113,917) a year, based on the larger sample size of 47 salaries. That’s much closer to the CHF102,500 (€107,277) a year or CHF8542 (€8940) a month indicated as the median React developer salary in Switzerland by SwissDevJobs.ch data. The second portal’s range starts at an average CHF80,000 (€83,728) a year or CHF6667 (€6978) a month for React salaries in the lowest 10th percentile and rises to an average of CHF125,000 (€130,826) a year or CHF10,417 (€10,902) for senior roles in the top 10%.

Live job offers for React Native developers based in Switzerland featured on ch.talent.com indicate that React Native developers based in the country suggest an average annual salary of somewhere between CHF90,000 (€94,194) and CHF100,000 (€104,660) a year.

React Native developer salary range in the United Kingdom

The UK is Europe’s second largest economy after Germany by GDP but its largest employer of IT specialists. It’s also, like Germany, a comparatively high salary economy. Based on a very healthy sample size of over 4000 salaries, uk.talent.com data puts the average React Native developer salary in the UK at £60,000 (€68,722) p.a. or £5000 (€5727) a month. The range starts at £45,026 (€51,571) a year or £3752 (€4297) a month for more junior roles and rises to £80,000 (€91,629) a year or £6667 (€7637) a month for senion React Native positions.

Another good data source for software developer salaries in the UK is the portal ITjobsWatch.co.uk. Based on 538 quoted salaries for React Native developers based in the UK, the data indicates a median annual salary of £55,000. Strangely, that’s actually a big drop on an average salary of £65,000 for UK-based React Native developers a year ago.

However, the sample size from a year earlier was larger and based on 916 quoted salaries. A fall in the average salary commanded by React Native developers would be unusual against a backdrop of generally high salary inflation for software developers internationally. In that context, and given the much larger sample size the uk.talent.com figures are based on, that figure is probably the more reliable.

  • Ukraine

React Native developer salary range in Ukraine

Despite the ongoing conflict with Russia, which invaded Ukraine in late February 2022, the East European country’s IT services sector has proven resilient. Hundreds of thousands of IT specialists, including large numbers of React Native developers, continue to work efficiently to deliver international software development projects.

Having demonstrated continued reliability and professionalism despite a challenging backdrop, Ukrainian IT specialists, well-regarded for their technical competence, remain in high demand. Data from the specialist Ukrainian IT jobs portal Djinni.co indicates the average monthly salary for a React Native developer in the country is around $3500-$4500 (the dollar currently has almost exact parity with the euro) or $43,000-$54,000 a year.

Junior React Native developer roles in Ukraine start at around $1,000 a month or $12,000 a year but can go lower while senior React Native developer salaries fall into an average range of $5000 to $7000 a month, or $60,000 to $84,000 a year but can potentially go even higher.

React Native developer salary range in India

India is the world’s largest outsourcing market and the IT outsourcing sub-sector is no exception. As a comparatively low-salary economy, Indian IT specialists are arguably best known as a budget-friendly option for Western project sponsors. India-based IT specialists do tend to command significantly lower salaries than most other parts of the world but there is nuance to that reality.

Like their peers everywhere else in the world, Indian IT specialists have benefitted from high salary inflation over the past couple of years, reflecting the international shortage of talent to fill in-demand tech roles. Average salary ranges are still usually considerably lower than competitor IT outsourcing markets like Eastern Europe but that is influenced by the heavy weighting towards less senior roles.

If you are a senior IT specialist from India with experience working on international projects and an in-demand tech stack, or that is the profile you wish to hire or contract for from India, salary ranges are now comparable to those found in Eastern Europe. Savings can still be made in India but the higher up the seniority ladder you are, or are hiring, the less pronounced they become. Top tech talent is in high demand everywhere and in a world in which software development teams are often distributed remotely, ability and track record are becoming more important than location.

But average salaries, even in tech, are still lower than in most international labour markets. How is that reflected by average React Native developer salary ranges in India?

Based on a good sample size of 1133 salaries, the jobs portal in.talent.com puts the average React Native developer salary in India at ₹849,900 (€10,757) a year or ₹70,825 (€896) a month. The lower end of the salary scale for India-based junior React Native developers is just ₹500,000 (€6328) a year or ₹41,667 (€527) a month while the highest paid roles are indicated to go up to ₹1,800,000 (€22,780) a year or ₹150,000 (€1898) a month.

Ads for React Native developers on Indian job sites where the salary is published match up to the range indicated by the in.talent.com data but expect to pay more for senior professionals with experience working on international projects.

React Native developer salary range in the United States of America

The USA has the world’s largest economy by GDP, is a high salary economy and employs more IT specialists than any other country. The shortage of IT specialists in the USA compared to demand is also particularly acute, pushing up average salaries significantly over the past year or two. Despite well-publicised lay-offs in the tech sector, there is still a significant overall shortfall of software development talent compared to the needs of companies and organisations based in the USA.

In that context, we might expect average React Native developer salary ranges in the USA to be higher than in most other national markets but let’s see what our preferred data sources show.

Data from the jobs portal talent.com based on 1990 React Native developer salaries in the USA put the median average remuneration at $125,000 a year or $10,417 a month. The lower end of the range is put at a still relatively high $99,863 a year or $8322 a month with the highest paid developers with React Native expertise earning as much as $162,500 a year or $13,542 a month.

Our other regular data source for U.S. IT specialist salary ranges is ZipRecruiter.com. It usually shows a broader range than talent.com, with the lower end more realistic for junior roles. That shows a potential bias in the talent.com data, whose methodology presumably leads to its salary data for the USA being weighted towards more senior IT professionals in higher paying roles.

The ZipRecruiter range for React Native developer salaries in the USA starts at the much lower $36,500 a year or $3042 a month for junior roles. The average React Native developer salary figure given does, however, match up closely to that of talent.com at $129,724 a year or $10,810 a month. The top end of the range also goes even higher than that of talent.com with senior roles shown to command an annual salary of as much as $185,000 a year or $15,417 a month.
