We are recruiting a Progress developer with significant experience in the AWS environment and tooling. 

You will join a new team we are establishing with a long standing client – the world’s biggest events company – and will benefit from the mature strategic relationship between our two companies. 

Reporting to the Marketing Data Platform Manager and supporting the lead technical engineer, you will take a senior role in the technical delivery of business requirements (aligning with product strategy) of a key data application serving multiple divisions.

The role will be embedded within a dynamic Scrum team, serving projects, maintenance, and support streams, whilst primarily focusing on the following technologies: .Net front-end, Progress back-end, Progress RDBMS, integrations & AWS components.

This is a majority-remote role but would ideally be based within Poland or elsewhere in central Europe to enable travel to our office in Krakow as required. 

Responsibilities

• Support hands-on technical leadership, in the development, operation and continuous improvement of application, services and integrated systems.
• Ensure development is secure and aligns against industry (OWASP) and internal standards.
• Manage complex integration scenarios and interfaces between several systems.
• Perform code reviews of in-progress builds to make sure development work adheres to approved functional requirements, technical designs, and coding standards.
• Ensure test coverage is maintained at acceptable levels.
• Ensure tech debt is maintained at acceptable levels.
• Champion software quality, innovation, and appropriate technology choices.
• Ensure security audit remediation actions are correctly implemented in accordance with the security team recommendations and reviews.
• Foster self-organisation within the Scrum team whilst being a source of knowledge and experience the team can call upon as and when required.

Required Skills

You can demonstrate expert knowledge in the following technical areas:

• Build and test CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Github.
• Development using Progress Software 4GL.
• Administrative task implementation for Progress Software Developer Studio & RDBMS, SQL and/or Redshift databases.
• AWS technologies and automation – AWS Elastic Balancing, SES, AWS EC2, Etc.
• Integration with Mulesoft or other similar integration tools/APIs.
• N-Tier application architectures.
• XP techniques such as Continuous Integration and Pair Programming.
• Code quality best practice and tooling e.g. Sonarqube, Github Advanced Security
• Issue tracking tooling across development and 2nd/3rd line support, specifically Jira and ServiceNow.
• Monitoring and observability using New Relic services, or an alternative set of tools.

Experience

• 8+ years’ experience developing and maintaining web-based applications with cloud-based infrastructure.
• 3+ years’ experience in a technical senior role.
• Experience working with internal and external dependency teams.
• Experience working in Agile delivery, specifically Scrum.
• Experience of enterprise level growth and transformation programmes.

• Incidents coming from the live environment should be reduced to an absolute minimum, ideally null.
• Incidents coming from the live environment should be analyzed and solved according to defined SLA’s.
