Senior AWS Architect

Role Summary

As an AWS Architect at K&C, you'll be the technical authority on cloud architecture for our customers' products. You'll work with their engineering and business stakeholders to understand what they actually need, then design, document and guide the delivery of AWS environments that are secure, compliant, cost-efficient and ready to scale.

The role suits someone who is as comfortable in an architecture review with a CTO as in a Terraform pull request, and who has built platforms where security, availability and regulatory requirements are not optional.

Key Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end AWS architectures covering compute, networking, storage, data and integration, following the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
• Define and build secure multi-account landing zones, VPC topologies, connectivity and IAM strategies.
• Architect containerised and serverless workloads on ECS/EKS, Lambda and API Gateway.
• Design highly available data layers on RDS/Aurora and S3, including backup, disaster recovery and data-protection strategies.
• Establish Infrastructure as Code standards with Terraform, plus CI/CD pipelines for application and infrastructure delivery.
• Embed cloud security and networking best practice: least-privilege access, encryption, segmentation, logging and monitoring.
• Support compliance and audit requirements typical of regulated FinTech, payments and banking environments.
• Review existing environments, identify risks and cost-optimisation opportunities, and lead migration or modernisation roadmaps.
• Mentor engineers, run architecture reviews and produce clear documentation and decision records.

Required Skills / Qualifications

8–10 years of experience in infrastructure, cloud or platform engineering, including significant hands-on time designing AWS architectures in production, with strong expertise in:

• Proven track record of designing secure, highly available and scalable systems on AWS.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking: VPC design, subnets, routing, VPNs, Transit Gateway, DNS and load balancing.
• Ability to explain architectural trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Nice to Have

AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional.

Domain Experience in FinTech, payments, banking, SaaS or product-based organisations.
