Chief Operating Officer (COO)

AI is already part of how K&C engineers build software. Now, we want to embed it systematically into our delivery model.

K&C delivers software engineering services to enterprise clients across Europe through nearshore teams. Bulgaria is the core of our engineering organization, and we are looking for a COO to lead and scale it.

In this role, you will lead K&C’s Bulgaria delivery operation, ensuring high delivery quality, strong engineering leadership, and operational excellence across all projects. You will also drive the transformation of our engineering organization toward AI-native development workflows, with responsibility for delivery quality, economics, team performance, and organizational evolution.

Responsibilities

• Delivery Performance
  • Operational ownership of the entire K&C Bulgaria delivery organization
  • Delivery quality, client satisfaction, and escalation management across all projects
  • Establishing delivery standards and enforcing them consistently across teams
  • Own delivery economics: revenue per engineer, utilization, cost structure, and delivery margins
• AI-Native Delivery Transformation
  • Build and implement K&C’s AI-native engineering workflows
  • Introduce AI-native development, review, and specification workflows across engineering teams
  • Develop internal capability for agentic development and modern AI-driven engineering practices
  • Identify and develop engineers who will become K&C’s AI-native delivery leaders
• Organizational Leadership
  • Build and lead the senior delivery leadership team in Bulgaria
  • Hire and develop engineering leadership
  • Create a culture of ownership, speed, and engineering excellence
  • Ensure strong technical leadership across all client projects
• Operational Leadership
  • Contribute to service design based on real delivery capability
  • Represent delivery leadership in strategic client conversations where engineering credibility matters
  • Represent K&C operationally with clients and partners
• Expected Outcomes – within the first 12–18 months:
  • Client satisfaction across the delivery portfolio is consistently high
  • Engineering teams operate at strong utilization with stable delivery margins
  • AI-native development workflows are standard across engineering teams
  • Delivery operates reliably without CEO involvement in escalations

Requirements & Skills

• 10+ years leading software engineering delivery organizations
• Experience running nearshore or offshore delivery teams
• Strong financial understanding of delivery businesses: utilization, pricing, margins, and operational profitability
• Proven ability to improve delivery quality, efficiency, and team performance
• Strong client leadership — you can manage difficult conversations with senior technical stakeholders
• Practical familiarity with modern AI-driven engineering workflows
• Based in Bulgaria
