Senior Data Engineer
Data Engineer
Data Pipelines, Migration & Governance — Next Gen Platform
Location: Cairo, Egypt
About the Engagement
Krusche & Company (K&C) is hiring on behalf of a growing intellectual-property protection business (content protection for movie and TV studios, and brand protection against counterfeiting) that is consolidating several legacy platforms onto a new greenfield “Next Gen” platform. You will join a blended K&C + client engineering squad, working directly inside the client's own repositories and to their engineering standards — as an extension of their in-house team rather than an isolated offshore unit.
Role Summary
Our client's core business is fundamentally a data problem — data pipelines, data management and data governance across multiple acquired platforms. As a Data Engineer you'll help consolidate that data onto the Next Gen platform: building pipelines, supporting migrations from legacy systems, and shaping the data warehouse that underpins reporting and product capability. The client thinks of this as a data-oriented backend discipline as much as a pure data-engineering one, so comfort with backend/API work is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
· Design and build data pipelines moving data between the client's operational stores (PostgreSQL) and its analytical warehouse (ClickHouse).
· Support migration of data from the client's legacy, acquired platforms onto the Next Gen data model.
· Implement data quality, governance and validation practices appropriate to a platform handling intellectual-property and rights-holder data.
· Work with S3 for data lake / object storage needs, and Redis/Valkey where caching or lightweight state is required.
· Partner closely with backend and fullstack engineers building the services that consume this data.
· Contribute to infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) for the data platforms you own, and ship through GitHub Actions.
· Write automated tests and validation checks for data pipelines, given the pace enabled by AI-assisted development.
Required Skills & Experience
· Production experience building and operating data pipelines at scale.
· Strong SQL and experience with PostgreSQL; experience with ClickHouse or another columnar/analytical database.
· Experience with cloud object storage (S3) and general AWS data-platform patterns.
· Comfortable writing Go or Python for pipeline/tooling code.
· Understanding of data governance, quality and migration practices, ideally across multiple source systems.
· Experience with Terraform and GitHub Actions, or equivalent IaC/CI tooling.
· Proven experience integrating into an existing client/product team rather than working in isolation.
· High day-to-day proficiency with AI/agentic coding tools, ideally Claude Code.
Nice to Have
· Experience consolidating data from multiple legacy/acquired platforms onto a single target model.
· Exposure to Redis/Valkey for caching.
· Familiarity with data cataloguing or lineage tooling.
· Interest or experience in applying LLM/RAG techniques to data problems.
Working with AI
Our client runs an AI-first delivery practice and uses Claude Code extensively across the team. You're expected to be highly productive with agentic coding tools day to day. The client is equally clear that raw speed only helps when it's matched by clear specifications and strong automated testing — so a disciplined approach to QA and well-defined architecture is just as important as fast implementation.
Working Arrangements
· You'll work UK-aligned hours as part of a combined squad alongside the client's in-house engineers — not as an isolated offshore team.
· You'll work directly in the client's repositories, following their engineering standards and code review practices.
· You'll have a dedicated K&C Account Manager and on-the-ground Delivery Manager, with monthly health checks and team retrospectives to surface and resolve blockers quickly.
Why You’ll Love This Role
This is a chance to own the data foundation of a fast-growing, mission-critical platform — building the pipelines and governance that make sense of data from multiple acquired systems, working daily with Claude Code inside a sharp, international engineering team. If you like turning complexity into clean, trustworthy data, this is where that work counts.
