We are recruiting a senior PHP developer with Symfony and database experience for a new team we are building for our partner, one of Europe’s most successful sports media.

The client

Our customer is one of Bulgaria’s leading digital media companies with a strong presence in sports. The company is one of the largest internet media groups in the country, with digital properties in sports, news & politics, business, lifestyle, e-commerce, and services, as well as over 45 social media channels.

Founded in 2006, our customer established itself as the undisputed, most successful digital sports platform in its market by providing up-to-date and reliable news, data feeds, comments, analysis, statistics, and interviews on a wide range of sports topics. The company is the first Bulgarian digital brand to offer its web television service.

In early 2021, our customer was acquired by its mother company, an innovative, digitalized, and diversified Swiss media company with operations in Europe, Asia, and Africa. It has approximately 110 subsidiaries in the print, digital media, radio, ticketing, entertainment, and e-commerce sectors, as well as leading online marketplaces for cars, real estate, jobs, and horizontals.

The Role

• Creation and implementation of a wide variety of web-based products using PHP and MySQL/MariaDB
• Developing, updating, and maintaining the company’s web-based products
• Following data security procedures
• Participate in the improvement of existing functionalities
• Working closely with other members

 Your profile and experience

• Previous PHP experience (3+ years) is required
• Knowledge of design patterns, OOP, Symfony, and SQL is required
• Experience with MySQL and MariaDB (2+ years) is required.
• Writing code that meets security best practices
• Experience with Redis is optional
• Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks
• Professional command of English
