K&C is looking for a Product Designer who will work within a team we are putting together for one of the world’s biggest and best known market intelligence multinationals.

Your role will be to understand the project’s business requirements and technical limitations and translate them into sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, mock-ups and prototypes.

The product designer will also be expected to design and prototype the overall functionality of products or features (within their area of control), and to ensure a great user experience and iterate upon it informed by user-testing.

The role:

  • Collaborate with design, product and engineering teams to turn propositions, product concepts and opportunities into desirable, viable, feasible and validated prototypes, products and experiences.
  • Work in a highly collaborative and embedded manner with Product and Engineering to deliver validated and feasible designs to the development squad.
  • You may work closely with one end to end squad or you could support a number of squads depending on business needs and priorities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver high quality user interactions, experiences, services and visual designs within area of responsibility, on time and to the expected level of quality and fidelity.
  • Work with the product, design and engineering team to understand and define requirements and create design briefs for work. Identify objectives, appropriate metrics to evaluate performance.
  • Use the most appropriate methodology, processes & tools to design, validate and deliver.
  • Support design and product decisions by conducting exploratory user and stakeholder interviews, user acceptance/ usability testing sessions & synthesis to gather evidence and requirements.
  • Understand priorities and trade-offs, identifying the solution that best addresses user problems, within agreed timeframes and technical constraints.
  • Present a range of recommendations for design solutions, articulate the reasons that bring you to a specific recommendation and the considerations.
  • Understand the impact of design decisions on broader user experience, working within or contributing to frameworks (design system, data viz library etc) to improve quality and consistency.
  • Work with subject matter experts and colleagues outside own team to understand viability and feasibility of solutions before presenting these to stakeholders.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to manage expectations and dependencies for assigned area of responsibility.
  • Advocate for use of consistent user patterns, supporting design or product colleagues (across all products) to understand user mental models and impact.
  • Prove designs, hypotheses and recommendations through use of data or validated evidence (where possible), and provide rationale for decisions.
  • Attend, participate and drive improvements with design team rituals to improve collaboration and consistency (e.g. stand up, show & tell etc).

You should have and be:

  • Strong written & verbal English communication skills, able to clearly articulate concepts, ideas and requirements so they are understood by technical & non-technical teams.
  • Good presentation and facilitation skills, able to present ideas/concepts to stakeholders with clarity and confidence and obtain high quality outputs from collaborative tasks.
  • Good persuasion and relationship building skills to influence others without authority and encourage collaboration between stakeholders.
  • Be capable of resolving challenges independently, escalating only when appropriate.
  • Be team player, able to work collaboratively with other members of the team and autonomously when required.
  • Excellent self-organisation and ability to plan own work in line with the broader team plans and priorities.
  • Display interest and enthusiasm for work of the team and in the Design discipline.
  • Have the aptitude and willingness to learn new areas/domains quickly
  • Patient and resilient – able to effectively coach and support design and non-designers to iteratively improve ways of working.
  • An online portfolio or PDF of previous work that can be shared.

Desired skills and experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in all aspects of UX/UI design.
  • Experience in using UX/UI design best practices to design solutions.
  • Experience managing own workload, performance and processes in collaboration with product & tech teams.
  • Knowledge of user-centred design (UCD), planning and conducting user research, user testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis, usability and accessibility.
  • Demonstrated experience proving designs, hypotheses and recommendations through the use of data or validated evidence, and providing commercial rationale for decisions.
  • Advanced competency with common Design software (e.g. Figma, Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, InVision etc) for the creation of artefacts and presentations.
  • Experience with data visualisation and B2B or SaaS platforms preferred.
  • Development, coding and/or motion graphics experience useful but not essential.
