We are recruiting a Microsoft Engineer/Technician with in-depth understanding of Active Directory architecture, familiarity with migration tools, fluent English and strong communication and team player capabilities. Find a full list of the required qualifications below.

This is a hybrid or fully remote job embedded with our client – a major software group. 

 

Experience and qualifications

  • Technical Proficiency in Active Directory:

    • In-depth understanding of Active Directory architecture, including domain controllers, forests, domains, trusts, and replication.

    • Proficiency in managing Active Directory objects such as users, groups, computers, and organizational units (OUs).

    • Experience in configuring and troubleshooting Group Policy Objects (GPOs) for security, user settings, and software deployment. 

  • Migration Tools and Techniques:

    • Familiarity with migration tools such as Microsoft Active Directory Migration Tool (ADMT), Quest Migration Manager, or native migration methods.

    • Experience in planning and executing domain consolidation, domain restructure, or forest migration projects.

    • Ability to perform compatibility assessments, data migration, and post-migration validation tasks.

  • Scripting and Automation Skills:

    • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell for automating migration tasks, data cleanup, and post-migration configurations.

    • Ability to develop custom scripts or automation workflows to streamline migration processes and minimize manual effort.

  • Networking and Security Knowledge:

    • Understanding of networking concepts, TCP/IP protocols, DNS, DHCP, and firewall configurations relevant to Active Directory environments.

    • Awareness of security best practices and compliance requirements related to Active Directory, including access control, data protection, and audit trails.

  • Documentation and Reporting:

    • Ability to create clear and concise documentation, including migration runbooks, configuration guides, and post-migration support materials.

    • Skill in generating progress reports, status updates, and post-migration reports to communicate project status and outcomes effectively.

  • Troubleshooting and Problem-solving:

    • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve migration-related issues, errors, and conflicts.

    • Capacity to work under pressure and troubleshoot complex technical problems in time-sensitive environments.

  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams, including system administrators, network engineers, security specialists, and application owners, to achieve project objectives.

    • Effective communication skills to convey technical information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Team Player:

    • Willingness to share knowledge, provide technical assistance, and offer support to team members during all phases of the migration project.

    • Capacity to communicate openly, listen actively, and respect diverse perspectives within the team, contributing to a positive and inclusive work environment.

    • Proven track record of building strong working relationships with colleagues, fostering teamwork, and promoting a collaborative culture within the organization.

  • Vendor Coordination:

    • Experience in coordinating with hardware vendors, software vendors, and professional services providers to procure necessary equipment, licences, and support services for migration projects.

    • Ability to liaise with vendors, negotiate contracts, and ensure deliverables meet project requirements and deadlines.

  • Adaptability and Learning Orientation:

    • Eagerness to stay updated on the latest technologies, tools, and best practices in Active Directory management and migration.

    • Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements, timelines, and priorities while maintaining a focus on achieving migration objectives.

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure Entra and experience in doing tenant to tenant migrations on prem as well as in cloud are required.

  • Language skills: Business English is an absolute must, German nice to have
