We are recruiting a Microsoft Architect with extensive experience designing, implementing, and managing Windows-based infrastructure solutions, in-depth knowledge of Windows operating systems, fluent English and strong communication and team player capabilities. This is a hybrid or fully remote job embedded with our client – a major software group.

Experience and qualifications

  • Technical Expertise:

    • Extensive experience designing, implementing, and managing Windows-based infrastructure solutions, including Active Directory, Windows Server, and related services.

    • In-depth knowledge of Windows operating systems, including Windows Server (2008, 2012, 2016, 2019) and Windows client OS (Windows 10, etc.).

    • Proficiency in virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V or VMware vSphere for building and managing virtualized environments.

  • Infrastructure Design and Architecture:

    • Proven ability to architect and design scalable, highly available Windows-based infrastructure solutions that meet business requirements and industry best practices.

    • Experience in designing and implementing Active Directory forests, domains, trusts, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and other directory services components.

    • Knowledge of network design principles, including LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, and firewall configurations.

  • Security and Compliance:

    • Strong understanding of Windows security features, including NTFS permissions, BitLocker, Windows Defender, and Windows Firewall.

    • Experience in implementing security best practices and compliance standards (e.g., CIS benchmarks, NIST guidelines) to protect Windows-based systems and data.

  • Cloud Integration:

    • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and AWS, including experience in designing hybrid cloud solutions and migrating workloads to the cloud.

    • Proficiency in Azure services relevant to Windows workloads, such as Azure Active Directory, Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Networking, and Azure Security Center.

  • Scripting and Automation:

    • Strong scripting skills using PowerShell for automating routine tasks, configuration management, and orchestration of Windows-based infrastructure components.

    • Experience with configuration management tools such as PowerShell DSC (Desired State Configuration) or Chef/Puppet for maintaining infrastructure consistency and compliance.

  • Project Leadership and Management:

    • Proven track record of leading and managing complex infrastructure projects from inception to completion, including scoping, planning, execution, and post-implementation support.

    • Ability to provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

  • Troubleshooting and Performance Optimization:

    • Expertise in diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues related to Windows-based systems, including performance tuning, capacity planning, and root cause analysis.

    • Experience in implementing monitoring and alerting solutions to proactively identify and address potential issues before they impact system performance or availability.

  • Vendor Management and Collaboration:

    • Ability to collaborate effectively with hardware vendors, software vendors, and third-party service providers to evaluate, procure, and implement technology solutions that meet business needs.

    • Experience in negotiating contracts, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring deliverables meet project requirements and service level agreements (SLAs).

  • Communication and Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

    • Proven ability to engage with business stakeholders, understand their requirements, and translate them into technical solutions that drive business value.

    • Strong collaboration skills, working effectively within cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives and foster a collaborative work environment.

  • Clear Documentation and Team Player:

    • Commitment to producing clear and comprehensive documentation, including architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and operational procedures, to facilitate knowledge sharing and support efficient operations.

    • Ability to work collaboratively within the team, sharing knowledge, providing mentorship, and contributing to a positive and inclusive work environment.

  • Language skills: English fluent, German nice to have
