K&C is hiring an EU-based senior data scientist to join our team working on the omnichannel digital & programmatic advertising ecosystem of Europe’s no.1 modular, full stack adtech solution.

You will work in an international team under German management, both at K&C and our partner, the end-client and progress your career with experience at the cutting edge of the commercial application of data science in adtech.

The project

• A maximization problem must be solved in limited time.
• A playlist of ad spots with a predefined duration should be composed; with a maximum duration of a playlist of 480 seconds, but it could be even higher.
• There could be up to 1,000 valid possible ad spots for a certain playlist.
• These ad spots are filtered in advance based on various campaign settings.
• The aligned response time is currently 5 seconds, but should be raised to 10 seconds.

Responsibilities

• Modelling and creation of the algorithm that will solve the problem.
• Requirements engineering and modelling of the Problem Space to calculate the complexity and which factors are leading to the largest problem.
• Simplifying the NP-complete problem in a systematic way so that the above goals/ requirements can be met.
• Algorithm verification → lead to an optimised algorithm.
• Systematic testing to verify the correctness and all edge cases are solved.
• Mathematical proof to and analysis around the problem so we can set limits to prevent us not meeting the needed requirements/goals.
• Work with existing code to improve the current algorithm and implementation.

Requirements

• Analytical thinking.
• Advanced programming skills, preferable in Java.
• Experience in dealing with problems of class NP-*.
• Communicates and explains complicated issues in an understandable way.
• Experience in Requirements Engineering.
• Experience in Systematic Testing.
• English – proficient.

Nice to have

• Experience working in the advertising industry.
• German.
