International React developer salary ranges and rates – Germany, Switzerland, UK, East Europe and USA

How much does a React developer earn or cost around the world? Your guide by region and level of seniority

React developer salary ranges and rates are an important topic in the context of the huge demand for experts in the most popular JavaScript library used in web development. There is more demand for frontend and fullstack developers with React as the key component of their tech stack than there is for any other web development technology. The only exceptions are Python, JavaScript itself and HTML.

On the Indeed.com jobs portal, 66,859 open positions require knowledge of React.js in the USA alone. That’s almost double the 34, 619 positions that mention Angular, the JS framework that is the next most used frontend technology. Less than 10,000 mention Vue.js, which, at K&C, we’ve seen trending demand for.

If you’re reading this, then chances are you are either:

  • A React developer and you want to benchmark your current salary level against the market
  • Considering becoming a React developer; or,
  • At some stage of the process of hiring React developers

Whichever of these three categories you belong to, this post will give you a good overview of React developer salaries in your region, at your level of expertise. Or the salary or rates you can expect to pay to employ React developers.

We’ll present data on React developer salary ranges in:

  • Germany
  • Switzerland
  • UK
  • Eastern Europe – Poland & Ukraine
  • USA

Keep in mind these figures provide a very broad overview of what React developers can expect to earn, or what you can expect to pay. The precise range you should expect to earn or pay will depend on the broader tech stack and experience you represent, or require like if you are a fullstack developer, frontend-only and countless other factors.

Salaries for increasingly common remote positions are also harder to average compared to those connected to a particular country or location due to a lack of data. They are usually benchmarked to ranges employers would expect to pay for traditional in-office employees and can be either roughly the same or slightly reduced if the employer’s offices are located in an expensive city.

These figures are intended as a rough guide only. For an up-to-the-minute range for React developers with a particular tech stack and who meet other requirements you may have, please get in touch.

We’ll be able to give you an accurate, realistic range based on the exact profile of React developer you are or plan to recruit or contract.

React developer rates – how much more should you expect to pay if hiring React developers through an IT outsourcing agency?

The data collated in this analysis comes from major jobs portals (and specialist sites that compile data from several jobs portals) based on salaries advertised for vacant positions. As well as self-declared earnings of professionals who have volunteered their salary information.

If your strategy is to recruit React developers through an IT outsourcing partner, you can expect the rates to come in higher than you would expect to pay the same professionals as direct employees. IT outsourcing providers typically have a margin of between 20% and 30% after overheads such as office space if the role is not remote.

That means, as a rule of thumb, you can add around 30% to salary ranges to estimate rates you can expect if working with an IT outsourcing partner. Again, if you have a job description for the React developers you need to recruit and plan to do so via a development or outsourcing partner, please drop us a line. We can give you an accurate range of rates you can expect.

React developer salary ranges in Eastern Europe – Poland and Ukraine

The popularity of IT outsourcing as a strategic solution to the recruitment of developers and other IT specialists means large numbers of international employers recruit React developers from East European countries for remote roles. As recently as a few years ago, the lower salary economies of Eastern Europe offered significant savings on developer salaries.

While salary costs are still usually lower than in the USA or Western Europe, the gap has narrowed a lot over the past few years as the international labour market for IT specialists has tightened. The result is that savings from nearshore outsourcing now often come more from tax, pension and other contributions which are typically much higher in developed economies.

Developers based in Eastern Europe, especially those in more senior roles, now often command take-home salaries that are comparable with peers based in high salary economies. But Eastern Europe is not a single homogenous region. It consists of a multitude of countries with their own cultures, education systems and economies.

We can’t cover every nearshore East European market here, but we will look at data on React developer salary ranges across the region’s two largest labour markets for IT specialists:

React developer salary range in the USA

The USA represents the world’s largest economy and largest technology sector. There are more React developers in the USA than in any other country in the world but there is also huge demand for software developers and other IT specialists, which outstrips supply. That, of course, drives up salary levels.

Data from Talent.com, based on 1298 salaries, puts the median average salary for a React developer in the USA at $119,992 annually, or circa. $10,000 per month. The lower end of the scale is still a relatively high $100,000 per annum or $8333 per month with salaries for senior React developers reaching $150,000 per annum or $12,500 a month.
