The solution represents an online digital engagement and collaboration platform for Bosch customers, collectors and owners of classic cars, to provide spare parts, information and other services covering every aspect of classic cars.

Project background

Bosch Automotive Tradition for vintage and classic car drivers

The community of friends and collectors of classic cars is growing rapidly and Bosch Automotive Tradition intends to meet the demand of these customers. It manufactures small, original-quality series of spare parts for old classic cars and makes sure that parts remain available on the market.

Apart from the spare parts supply, Bosch Automotive is supporting the community of classic car drivers with professional consultancy on vintage cars maintenance.

Decades of experience in the development and production of vehicle components allowed Bosch Automotive Tradition to become a central hub for the vintage car driver community.

The solution

The service that gives old classics a new polish

The portal is heavily based on modern technology, as it stores very rich and complex data on vintage vehicles and provides access to a wide range of spare parts from the worldwide pool of Bosch plants and can therefore ensure a supply of these parts.
K&C created a custom multi-data source client for Bosch WebService API, which uses proprietary data format andparser to create a huge legacy excel database. The client also includes hundreds of business rules that are applied to the search, depending on the input parameters. That has enabled a simple and user-friendly instrument to share the knowledge gathered by the ATR department with their customers. Smart data search solution enabled to add Reman (request for remanufacturing) feature and My Garage to create platforms for further integration with the additional online shop and social network for old-timers. All solutions were added to the existing ATR portal.

Bosch Classic Car Services supplements the product line of Bosch Automotive Tradition. This web solution provides tailored car management services to the community of classic car drivers, covering every aspect of classic car management.

Features

Workflow based registration

Bosch Classic Car Services are available only to authorized enthusiasts and collectors of classic cars. Registered members receive customized offers from the companies in Bosch Automotive Tradition classic car network that are qualified to offer specific services or repair, and satisfy the stringent requirements for equipment and expertise.

My Garage

Users have their own online space where they can store information about their favorite car(s), topics of interest and other preferences.

Product search

Portal users can inquire about a wide range of products - from spark plugs to brakes. This massive knowledge database allows Bosch generate sales, as this is the only place where owners of classic cars can find rare parts. The user-friendly knowledge database interface created for Bosch Classic Car Services web portal, enables drivers to search spare parts from the worldwide pool of Bosch plants at any time. There are currently over 50,000 documents available to download for free and more than one million references on the portal. The logic allows performing search fields such as Bosch Order Numbers and External numbers.

Vehicle Search

Another option for users is to find out which spare parts fit certain models of old cars and access various product characteristics through running a search by vehicle. Users simply select the type of vehicle and the system immediately offers a list of automakers and different models. Once the model is selected, the user can click on the exact variation of the model. A list of available parts that fit appears on the screen along with additional information.

Reman

Being highly client oriented, Bosch cares about every single customer. Thus, the order can be still processed even if the spare part is no longer in production. We have developed a special request form for Bosch Classic Car Services that makes it possible for customers to have specific products refurbished.

Newsletter

Understanding the importance of loyal customers within the community, Bosch offers all users to subscribe to the latest newsletter for immediate, free information and current news from Bosch Automotive Tradition.. We developed a portlet that enables user subscription and offers several newsletter templates that simplifies email campaigns.

Boxberg 2016

To engage with its customers and foster networking between community members, Bosch organizes events for retro-car owners. We helped implement the Universal Event registration form that gathers information about participants, avoiding time consuming email registration.

More than 19,000 users

Bosch has been actively working with the community of classic car drivers since 2005 that today has more than 19,000 members in its database. All users were successfully ported to the new Bosch Classic Car Services portal, using the username management tools.
